The Gelato Chef will bring their exceptional ice cream making expertise to lead the development of unique and high-quality ice cream products. This role requires a blend of technical skill, creativity, and discipline in following directions provided by the Owner, while ensuring that all processes and innovations are properly documented and owned by the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize professional ice cream making knowledge and skills to produce high-quality products.
- Work closely with the Owner to develop ice cream styles, flavors, and recipes in line with the Owner’s vision.
- Record all recipes, processes, and procedures in detail to ensure repeatability and quality control.
- Maintain high standards for taste, texture, presentation, and consistency.
- Experiment with new techniques, ingredients, and flavor combinations under the guidance of the Owner.
- Ensure hygiene, food safety, and regulatory requirements are strictly followed in production.
- Calculate and consistently maintain food cost percentages.
- Bring up any significant cost variances, price fluctuations, or supply issues to the Owner in a timely manner.
- Maintain transparency and clear, timely, professional communication with the Owner on all production, R&D, and operational matters.
- Be in charge of maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen in accordance with regulatory and food safety standards.
